On May 17th,2008 Jaurdyn, Karissa, Jennifer and Serena Encountered Christ in a very Holy way. On Saturday Jaurdyn, Karissa, Jennifer and Serena received the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the Sacrament of the Eucharist. *********************************** Also at this Mass Ruby Catherine Guzzo was Blessed by Fr. Monsignor Bernard J. Burns, P.H. Celebrates 80th

On April 24 2008 Monsignor Burns celebrated his 80th Birthday with 100's from across the city and beyond. With great emotion Monsignor stated "I am who I am ONLY because of all of you" ! Monsignor will set 2 more milestones in the next couple of years ....... 50 years as a Priest and 25 years of dedicated sevice as Pastor of Precious Blood Cathedral ! HOLY SATURDAY 2008

Holy Saturday (Sabbatum Sanctum) There is deep symbolism upon which we can reflect on Holy Saturday. On this day, the Church waits at the Lord's tomb, and meditates on His Passion and Death and His descent into Hell. With prayer and fasting we await His glorious Easter resurrection. Mary is also a Holy Saturday symbol. According to Catholic tradition, Mary represents the entire body of the Church. As she waited in faith for the victorious triumph of Her Son over death on the first Holy Saturday, so we too wait with Mary on the present Holy Saturday. This faithful and prayerful symbolic waiting has been called the Ora della Madre or Hour of the Mother. The Easter, or Paschal, candle is lit during this service. The service began outside the church, where Fr Eric and Alter Servers, Candle Bearers and Fire Tender gather around a fire from which the NEW flame is lit. During this celebration two Baptisms and two Confirmations took place……………… the beginning of the rest of their lives...forever! view photos

Feast of St Anthony 2007

On June 13th the annual Feast of St Anthony celebration was hosted at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish with Fr.Eric Pannike, Monsignor Burns from Precious Blood Cathedral and Monsignor Amadio of St Gregory parish. Hundreds of the faithful from parishes throughout the city came together on this extremely hot evening to celebrate the life of one of its favorite saints. St. Anthony was noted for many different good works but mainly celebrated for his dedication to helping the poor. This year the focus of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was to assist the "feed the poor program" of St Vincent de Paul Society. Over $2800 was generously donated to this effort to assist the poor in our community. We thank the City Police and a large contingent of the Knights of Columbus who led our procession safely through the neighborhood streets. And most importantly Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish is extremely grateful to everyone who gave so generously to this effort. view photos

A truly magnificent dinner was put together for 160 by the Hospitality Group. Lora and Joanne toiled for several full days putting this all together......................... A heartfelt thank you to the many people who helped make our Valentine Day Supper such a huge success. To everyone who helped by making pies, decorating, cooking, serving and cleaning up. Thanks also to Ray Stortini for always donating door prizes for our functions and to Will Hawdon from Blessed Sacrament for coming to help peel apples. Last but not least, to everyone who continues to support us. None of this would be possible without YOU. Proceeds from this endeavor will go towards new tables for our Parish Hall. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hospitality Group again came together under the planning, direction and extremely hard work of Lora & Jo-Anne. The result was over 150 parishoners and friends got together for a wonderful supper of Turkey with all the trimmings.
